ગ્રીસ ટાપુ કાસોસ નજીક એક શક્તિશાળી ભૂકંપ આવ્યો છે, જેના પછી ગ્રીસના ઘણા ભાગોમાં ભૂકંપના આંચકા અનુભવાયા છે.

રિક્ટર સ્કેલ પર ભૂકંપ ની તીવ્રતા 6.1 માપવામાં આવી છે.

યુએસ જીઓલોજિકલ સર્વે (યુએસજીએસ) અનુસાર, ભૂકંપનું કેન્દ્ર ક્રેટના હેરાક્લિઓનથી 79 કિમી ઉત્તરપૂર્વમાં 67 કિમીની ઊંડાઈએ હતું.

ગ્રીસની ઇમરજન્સી સર્વિસે લોકોને દરિયાકાંઠાના વિસ્તારોથી દૂર રહેવાની સલાહ આપી છે.

ભૂકંપના આંચકા સેન્ટોરિની સુધી અનુભવાયા હતા, જ્યાં લોકો રસ્તા પર ઉતરી આવ્યા હતા અને કેલ્ડેરામાં કેટલાક ભૂસ્ખલનના અહેવાલો છે.

ગત 14 મેના પણ ગ્રીસમાં ભૂકંપના જોરદાર આંચકા અનુભવાયા હતા.
