કારી એજાઝ તેના સંગઠન માટે આતંકવાદીઓની ભરતી કરતો હતો. આ હુમલામાં કારીના સાથીને ગોળી વાગી હતી.

પેશાવરના પિશ્તખારા વિસ્તારમાં એજાઝ એક મસ્જિદમાંથી બહાર આવી રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે હુમલો થયો હતો.

કારી એજાઝ મૌલાના મસૂદ અઝહરનો સંબંધી હતો અને દેવબંદી વિચારધારા સાથે ઊંડો સંકળાયેલો હતો. બંનેએ ઘણી વખત સ્ટેજ શેર કર્યું. આ ઉપરાંત, બંનેએ પ્રાથમિક શિક્ષણ પણ સાથે કર્યું હતું.
