ભારતના સ્ટાર ભાલા ફેંકનાર અને બે વખતના ઓલિમ્પિક મેડલ વિજેતા નીરજ ચોપરાએ દોહા ડાયમંડ લીગમાં ઇતિહાસ રચ્યો છે.

નીરજે પોતાના કરિયરમાં પહેલીવાર 90 મીટરથી વધુ ભાલા ફેંક્યો છે. પરંતુ ઇતિહાસ રચવા છતાં, નીરજે સ્પર્ધા બીજા સ્થાને પૂર્ણ કરી.

તેણે પોતાના ત્રીજા પ્રયાસમાં 90.23 મીટર ભાલા ફેંકીને ઇતિહાસ રચ્યો. નીરજના નામે એક નવો રાષ્ટ્રીય રેકોર્ડ છે.

નીરજે તેના બીજા પ્રયાસમાં ફાઉલ કર્યો હતો, પરંતુ તેના ત્રીજા પ્રયાસમાં તેણે બધાને આશ્ચર્યચકિત કરી દીધા અને ઇતિહાસ રચ્યો.

ભાલા ફેંકવાના ઇતિહાસમાં તે 90 મીટરથી વધુ ભાલા ફેંકનાર પ્રથમ ભારતીય છે. તે 90 મીટરથી વધુનું અંતર કાપનાર 25મો અને પ્રથમ ભારતીય ખેલાડી બન્યો છે.
